What is the William Hill Card?

The William Hill Card is an eftpos card that provides you with the fastest, easiest way to access your winnings. You can instantly transfer your winnings to your card and use your William Hill card to:

  • withdraw cash at any ATM within Australia. (ATM fees may apply)
  • buy everyday items in store where eftpos is accepted.
  • deposit instantly to your William Hill betting account by presenting your card at participating outlets (details coming soon).

Please note: Card fees and load limits apply. Please refer to our Product Disclosure Statement for more details. The William Hill Card is only available to Australian residents with a verified and active William Hill account.

How do I get a William Hill Card?

Go to your ‘Account’ section and select the ‘William Hill Card’ option.
Accept the Terms & Conditions and submit your application.
Your card will be mailed to you along with an activation code. Once you have received your card you will need to activate your card online before you can use the card. This can be easily done in the app.

Please note: To be eligible for a card, your William Hill account must be verified and your address must be in Australia.

What are winnings?

What are winnings?

Only Winnings can be withdrawn to your William Hill Card. Winnings are payouts on bets you have placed, excluding payouts on Bonus Bets that have not met the turnover requirements applicable to Bonus Bets (see Bonus Bets and Promotions for Bonus Bet turnover requirements).

Funds that have been deposited to your William Hill account, but have not yet been turned over (bet through), cannot be withdrawn to your William Hill Card. Likewise, Bonus Bets cannot be withdrawn to your William Hill Card. If your payment method has not yet been verified, where required, you will not be able to withdraw Winnings to your William Hill Card. If you use Poli as a deposit method you may need to wait until the next business day to withdraw your Winnings.

Your card will be posted via Australia Post. We aim for you to receive this within 7-10 business days, however in the event that you haven’t received your card within 15 business days please contact our Customer Service team on 1800 007 238.

How do I activate the card?

How do I activate the card?

When you receive your card in the mail it will be inactive. To activate your card, log in to the William Hill website or app and follow these three easy steps:

  1. Visit the ‘Account’ section
  2. Select ‘William Hill Card’
  3. Enter your 9 digit card activation code that you will receive in your activation letter along with your card, and click ‘Activate’.

Your card is now active and ready to use!

How does my card work?

After your card is activated you can load it with winnings from your betting account which you can then use to withdraw cash or make purchases where eftpos is accepted. To withdraw cash from an ATM or make purchases from a store, select the “Savings” account option and enter your 4 digit PIN.

The card is not a credit or debit card and does not earn interest. Unlike a Visa card, this card is not suitable for transactions that are online or over the phone.

If you believe your card has been lost, stolen or damaged, likely to be misused or you have reason to suspect that someone else may know the PIN, please call the William Hill Customer Service on 1800 007 238 immediately to suspend it.

If your card is unrecoverable please transfer all funds back to your William Hill Betting account before contacting William Hill Customer Service to cancel the card completely. When the cancellation is confirmed a new replacement card can then be ordered.

You don’t need a bank account like you would do for a credit or debit card. You can load your winnings instantly onto the card ready for purchases and payments. You can only spend the amount which is loaded onto the card.

The card may not be used for, an authorisation may be declined for, any illegal transactions. Some merchants may choose not to accept eftpos Prepaid Cards. For further information please refer to your Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).

There are limits to how much cash can be transferred to the card – refer to the question above “Is there a limit on the Card?”

Only one card is allowed per William Hill Betting account.

William Hill cards are only available to Australian residents and AUD currency accounts.

The card is only available for use in Australia.

Only winnings are available for transfer to the card. The Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Act (AML/CTF Act) dictates that cash must be ‘turned over’ before it becomes available for withdrawal on the card.

Yes – Subject to the merchants refund policy the refund can be put back onto the card.

If the card is expired or revoked before you have spent any value loaded to the card resulting from a refund then you will have no access to those funds unless a replacement card has been issued to you.

Each time you make a purchase or withdrawal on your card, the amount is automatically deducted from your card balance at the time the transaction is approved. If the transaction is declined the funds are not deducted from your card balance. Fees and charges may apply, refer to the PDS.

You can check the balance of your card or view your recent transactions by logging into the William Hill website or app and navigating to your ‘My account’ section and ‘William Hill Card’ section within.

The expiry date is shown on the front of the card. The card is valid for 3 years from the time it is ordered. The card cannot be used after the expiry date.

  1. There could be insufficient funds to cover the purchase amount; you will need to check the balance on your card.
  2. Check you are selecting ‘Savings’ as your payment method.
